NewsStooges film US television specialThe Stooges are set to appear on a special episode of The Henry Rollins Show, set to air this Friday in the US. The show sees Rollins sit down with Iggy Pop and the rest of The Stooges to discuss the band's decision to re-unite and record new material. On the show, Pop talks about his determination to get the Stooges off the ground in Vietnam-era Detroit, saying: "We didn't have any money for a band house. So I went to Detroit, I borrowed a shovel from The MC5 and I took some mescaline and I went to a barn...I spent about ten hours till I came down just trying to dig soot out of this burned out house...That's sort of an attitude. You can't stop a guy like that." In addition to talking to Rollins, the band will perform material from their new album 'The Weirdness'. U2 men sign on for 'Spider-Man' musical U2's Bono and The Edge have signed on to write music for the forthcoming Broadway musical, 'Spider-Man'. The singer and guitarist will team up with director Julie Taymor to pen songs for the musical based on the Marvel Comics hero. Rehearsals are set to begin on July 2, and directors are currently seeking a young man with a "great pop/rock voice" to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man, reports Playbill.com. Bono and The Edge are not the only rockers to provide a soundtrack for the webbed crusader. The Killers, Flaming Lips Snow Patrol and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are among the bands contributing to the soundtrack for the forthcoming film 'Spider-Man 3', as previously announced. This will not be U2's first foray into the comic book world. They also contributed the song 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me' to 1995's 'Batman Forever' soundtrack, and The Edge recorded the theme music to the American animated series 'The Batman'. |
